Minecraft Music Discs: All 22 and Where to Find Each One
Minecraft Java has 22 music discs as of version 26.3. Twelve of them are C418 tracks that drop when a skeleton-type mob kills a creeper. The other ten come from newer structures and special mob kills, like bastion chests, trial chambers, or sulfur cave mineshafts for the newest disc, Bounce.
Here is every disc in one table. The signal column is the comparator output you get from a jukebox holding that disc.

A good order to collect them all
If you want the full set, this order groups discs that share a source:
- Start with creeper drops. One method covers 12 discs.
- Raid an ancient city. Its chests can hold C418 discs, otherside and Disc Fragment 5, so one trip helps with three goals.
- Clear trial chambers. Creator, Creator (Music Box) and Precipice all come from them.
- Find a bastion remnant for Pigstep and trail ruins for Relic.
- Finish with the mob-based discs. Tears and Lava Chicken each need a specific kill.
- Explore sulfur caves for Bounce.
Creeper discs: the 12 C418 tracks
When a skeleton, stray, bogged or any other skeleton variant kills a creeper, the creeper drops one music disc. It's always one of the 12 C418 discs, from 13 through wait.
No other disc can drop this way. Pigstep, otherside, 5, Relic, both Creator discs, Precipice, Tears, Lava Chicken and Bounce never come from creepers, no matter how many you farm. For setup ideas, see our guide to getting music discs from creepers with a disc farm.
You can also find all 12 C418 discs in dungeon, woodland mansion and ancient city chests. That's handy if you'd rather loot than farm.
The newer discs, one by one
These ten discs have their own sources, and some have more than one. The chances below are rough values, so expect to search a few spots.
Pigstep
Pigstep by Lena Raine came in the 1.16 Nether Update. You find it in bastion remnant chests, with about a 5.6% chance in the general chests.
On JukeZone, Pigstep has its own show: five zombified piglins dance in the club, then three giant pigmen appear at the spawn plaza for 60 seconds.

You can watch more clips of the show in the JukeZone gallery.
otherside
otherside, also by Lena Raine, was added in 1.18. It has three chest sources:
- Dungeon chests: about 3.1%
- Stronghold altar chest: about 2.5%
- Ancient city chests: about 8.4%
Of the three, ancient cities give the best odds.
5
Disc 5 by Samuel Åberg came in 1.19. You can't find it whole. Instead, you craft it from 9 Disc Fragment 5.
The fragments are in ancient city chests, at about 29.8% per chest. Disc 5 is also the only disc that gives a comparator signal of 15.
Relic
Relic by Aaron Cherof arrived in 1.20. You get it by brushing suspicious gravel in trail ruins, at about an 8.3% chance.
Creator and Creator (Music Box)
Both are by Lena Raine and came in 1.21, and both come from trial chambers.
- Creator comes from ominous vaults, at about 7.5%.
- Creator (Music Box) comes from decorated pots in trial chamber corridors, at about 1.4%.
Precipice
Precipice by Aaron Cherof also came in 1.21. It drops from normal trial chamber vaults.
Sources disagree on the exact drop chance, so we won't guess. Check the wiki if you want the latest number.
Tears
Tears by Amos Roddy was added in 1.21.6. You get it when a ghast is killed by its own fireball after a player deflects it back.
Lava Chicken
Lava Chicken is a cover of "Steve's Lava Chicken" by Jack Black, performed by Hyper Potions, added in 1.21.7.
Kill the baby zombie riding a chicken jockey. You or a tamed wolf must make the kill. If the chicken dies first, there's no disc.
Bounce
Bounce by fingerspit is the newest disc, added in 26.2 "Chaos Cubed". Look in minecart chests in mineshafts inside sulfur caves, where it shows up about 42% of the time.
Our Bounce music disc guide covers it in more detail.
How music discs work in a jukebox
A jukebox takes 8 planks of any wood around 1 diamond. You can hear it up to 64 blocks away.
A disc plays once and doesn't loop on its own. While a disc is playing, the jukebox powers adjacent redstone with signal 15 (Java 1.19.4+).
Hoppers and droppers can insert and take out discs (Java 1.19.4+). The jukebox's signal locks adjacent hoppers while a song plays, so a hopper pulls the disc out when it ends. That's the trick behind automatic disc changers.
Filmed on JukeZone: our spawn nightclub is built inside a giant jukebox.
Comparator signals that share a value
A comparator reading a jukebox outputs 1 to 15 depending on the disc, and the signal stays while the disc is inside. Four pairs share a value, so a comparator can't tell them apart:
| Signal | Discs |
|---|---|
| 11 | 11 and Creator (Music Box) |
| 12 | wait and Creator |
| 13 | Pigstep and Precipice |
| 14 | otherside and Relic |
Keep this in mind if you build a disc sorter or a song display. Only disc 5 gives 15. Our full jukebox comparator signal guide goes deeper on the redstone side.
Mobs that react to music
Allays dance within 3 blocks of a playing jukebox. Give a dancing allay an amethyst shard and it duplicates, with a 5-minute cooldown. Parrots dance near a playing jukebox too.
Bedrock Edition differences
Everything above is for Java. On Bedrock, Tears arrived in 1.21.90, Lava Chicken in 1.21.93, and Bounce in the 26.30 previews.
Bedrock creeper-drop details and buried treasure discs aren't confirmed in our fact check, so check the wiki before you count on them.
What changed in 26.3
Nothing, for discs. Version 26.3 "Wilderness Bound" came out on September 15, 2026 and added no music discs, so the total stays at 22.
We update this page when a new disc ships. If you'd rather listen with friends than farm, JukeZone has a club where DJ JUKE takes song requests, and JukeRooms gives your web chat room a shared jukebox you can link to the server.
