How to Get the Pigstep Music Disc in Minecraft

To get the Pigstep music disc, you have to loot chests in a bastion remnant. Each general bastion chest has about a 5.6% chance to hold Pigstep, so plan to open a lot of chests.

Pigstep never drops from creepers, so bastion chests are the only place to look.

How to get Pigstep, step by step

1. Gear up before you leave. Bring your best armor, plenty of food, a stack or two of building blocks and a spare pickaxe.
2. Locate a bastion remnant. This guide doesn't cover where bastions generate, so check the wiki before you set out. Keep track of your route home as you travel.
3. Scout the bastion from the outside first. Look for a safe way in instead of running through the front.
4. Open every chest you can reach. At about 5.6% per general chest, most chests won't have Pigstep. The more chests you open, the better your odds.
5. Get out and regroup. Drop your loot at home, then go back out or look for another bastion if you still need the disc.

Looting a bastion with a plan

Treat the trip as a raid, not a stroll. A simple plan keeps you calm when things go wrong.

Mark your way back. Place blocks or torches along your route so you can find the exit fast.

Carry building blocks. They give you options when you need to block off a path or reach a spot that's hard to get to.

Take it one area at a time. Loot a section fully before you move on to the next.

Know when to leave. If your armor is wrecked or your food is low, head out with what you have. A safe retreat beats losing your whole haul.

Why you can't farm Pigstep from creepers

A creeper killed by a skeleton, stray or bogged only drops one of the 12 C418 discs, from 13 through wait.

Pigstep, otherside, 5, Relic, Creator, Creator (Music Box), Precipice, Tears, Lava Chicken and Bounce never drop from creepers. If you want Pigstep, you're going to a bastion.

Playing Pigstep in a jukebox

Pigstep is Lena Raine's track from the 1.16 Nether Update, and it runs 2:28.

When you play it in a jukebox, a few things happen:

• The song can be heard up to 64 blocks away.
• It plays once and stops. It does not loop on its own.
• Allays within 3 blocks dance, and you can hand a dancing allay an amethyst shard to duplicate it (5-minute cooldown).
• Parrots nearby dance too.

Using Pigstep with redstone

A comparator reading a jukebox with Pigstep inside outputs signal 13. Precipice also outputs 13, so a comparator can't tell those two apart.

While Pigstep is playing, the jukebox powers adjacent redstone with signal 15 (Java 1.19.4+). Hoppers can insert and pull discs out, which is how auto disc changers work. The full breakdown is in our guide to jukebox comparator signal strength for every disc.

Pigstep as a live show

Our server turns the track into a show. It starts in the nightclub inside a giant jukebox at spawn, with 5 dancing zombified piglins on the floor. Then 3 giant pigmen appear at the spawn plaza for 60 seconds.

More discs worth hunting
